A Bit About Me
How long you have been a referee: 24 Years
What is it about refereeing that you enjoy: Love the Game and love meeting new people and other referees.
Your favourite memory or story: My favourite memory is for sure with one of my mentors that I referee a match with. He knew I struggled with ball handling when I was learning and I made a correct ball handling call. He was proud and we had a good laugh about it during our debrief. Other great memories are always travelling to different cities to referee provincial championships.
A tough moment you experienced and how you overcame it: I never used to play volleyball and I never used to understand ball handling and how to catch it. I was lucky to have great mentors back in my day who evaluated me along with working side by side with them helping boost my confidence and understanding more as I watched more matches along the way. My advice and how I overcame it is definitely to be curious about learning, and pick the right mentor to guide you. I would stay in the gym and watch as many games from other referees as possible to learn from others.
