About Us
The referees' association for Volleyball BC's Zone 4 and 5
The Lower Mainland Volleyball Officials Association is the official Volleyball BC representative for Zones 4 and 5. We provide volleyball referees for the cities of Vancouver, Burnaby, New Westminster, Richmond, North Vancouver, and West Vancouver. It is also our mission to develop and mentor referees, train new officials in the zone, and provide referees within our zone opportunities to grow their experience nation-wide.
Development
A key focus for LMVOA is our referee development. Starting from Level 1 (Local) clinics to an extensive mentorship program which supports our referees' ambitions to reach the highest level of professional volleyball officiating, our goal is to provide officials with opportunities to grow their skills, confidence, and love for the sport of volleyball.

Allocation
Our Allocation Team works around the clock to promote the zone through our referees. Many factors are considered when allocating referees to scheduled matches, including referee development, fairness across leagues/zones, and diverse coverage of matches. Unfortunately, due to the large growth in our local volleyball community, we are in a refere shortage within BC. As a result, our focus with our limited number of referees is to cover as many matches as possible to provide as many players and participants a positive experience in this sport.

Finance
LMVOA is a not-for-profit organization. This means all the money paid to us goes directly back to the officials. The additional fees incurred on some bills are used to run the association, such as allocation fees, mentorship, and general admin such as this website.
​
The association also firmly believes in financial transparency. Our aim is to provide clear invoices with no hidden fees, as well as being available to answer any questions regarding the Zone's finances. Working closely with Volleyball BC, we will be posting financial documents for the association on our website when they become available.
