FAQ's
Q: Can I get my badge after completing this course?
A: Because this course is offered by LMVOA and not Volleyball Canada, there will be no badge following the completion of this course. The only way to obtain your badge is to complete the full Volleyball Canada Level 1 Program, including written and practical exams.
Q: What is the difference between the Volleyball Canada Level 1 Program and this Minor Officials Clinic?
A: The Volleyball Canada clinic is a much more thorough course, six hours in length, followed by a written and practical exam. It prepares a student to referee at the Local level across the country. This Minor Officials Clinic offered by LMVOA is specifically designed to teach the practical rules applied within High School games in the Lower Mainland.
Q: Why did LMVOA decide to offer this Minor Officials Program?
A: The goal of the program is to promote the rules of the game to all participants. We also see this program as a great way for student athletes to get some practical experience in refereeing before deciding on the pricey and stressful jump to the Volleyball Canada level 1 program.
Q: What does the school need to provide in order to host a clinic?
A: All we need is four hours in a classroom with projection or a large TV. Gym time (up to an hour) is greatly beneficial but not required. LMVOA will provide all other materials!
Q: How much does the course cost?
A: The Clinic is $150 for each class, up to 20 students. The schools should be covering the fee with no direct charge to each participant.
Q: How do I sign up for a class as a student?
A: Your school will have to reach out to us for a course date. If you are interested, please contact your athletic department!
Q: I am interested in assisting or teaching this Clinic. Who can I contact for this opportunity?
A: At this moment, only select senior referees have been trained in the course materials. Voice your interest the next time you see one of us and we will make sure to develop you so that you can be ready for the next round of courses!
